• Fixed: Fixed a bug which could lead to a crash on initial sync of items

Gruml 0.9.21 is released:

Changelog:

• New: Changed synchronization with Google Reader. Your subscriptions and articles are fetched at first launch. After that initial sync only changes will be loaded from Google Reader.
  Download consumption will be reduced and synchronize times will be shorter.
  Please note:
  An inital full synch will be performed if you first launch Gruml 0.9.21 even if you’ve used any older version of Gruml before. Depending on the number of feeds in your account this may take some time. The synchronization can be interrupted at any time and will resume at next run of Gruml.
• New: Changed local storage engine. Browsing and offline use are improved.
• New: Social service: Google Buzz
• New: Social service: friendfeed
• New: Social service: Pinboard
• Improvement: Feed favicons are shown in Growl notifications

Gruml 0.9.21: Bereit zum Test

Since the last release of Gruml I’ve completely rewritten the backend of Gruml; the local storage of your articles and feeds and the synchronization with Google Reader are performed in a different way now.


What does that mean in detail?

• If you first launch Gruml it will fetch an initial data pool from Google Reader; after that, articles and changes to your subscriptions will be fetched incremental – the download consumption will be reduced compared to older versions of Gruml.
• The local database of Gruml has been rewritten as well; navigation through your feeds and articles will be snappier and offline use of Gruml has been improved.

As these are major changes, some more testing needs to be done before Gruml 0.9.21 will be released via auto-update and as main download.
Feel free to test this initial preview release of Gruml 0.9.21 and give some feedback via e-mail or blog comment if you like.

Please notice:

• If you start Gruml 0.9.21 for the first time, an inital sync with Google Reader will be performed (even if you have used an older version of Gruml before); depending on the number of your subscriptions this may take some time.
• The sync interval can be set in “Preferences”-”Advanced”.

Probleme mit der Synchronisierung zu GReader

Die Schnittstelle, welche Google Reader benutzt, hat sich in den letzten Tagen leicht geändert, daher kann es bei einigen Anwendern zu Problemen beim Abgleich zwischen Gruml und GReader kommen (z.B. kein Sync von Gelesen/Ungelesen, Markieren von Einträgen, Zufügen oder Ändern von feeds zwischen Gruml und Google Reader).
Die Schnittstelle wird derzeit angepasst und ein Fix, welcher diese Probleme löst, wird in Kürze verfügbar sein.
